Zellee Organic, a Maui-based company, announced today that its organic vegan fruit gel snacks have received non-GMO certification from the Non-GMO Project.
Zellee Organic is revolutionizing the “gelatin snack” category with its line of vegan fruit gels made without gelatin, added sugar, or any of the artificial ingredients found in traditional gelatin desserts. The Non-GMO Project verification reinforces Zellee’s commitment to clean ingredients and complements its organic, vegan, and kosher certifications. The line currently includes three delicious flavors: Orange Peach, Strawberry Pear, and Blueberry Grape.
“We’re breaking the mold – the gelatin snack mold that is – by changing almost everything about gelatin snacks. We’ve replaced the gelatin, removed the added sugar and artificial ingredients, and changed the packaging to create a healthy, fun and delicious on-the-go snack,” said Eriko Dowd, Founder and CEO of Zellee Organic. “Since day one, I was adamant about sourcing ingredients that were organic and natural. While various gums are available for easy production, there was no question that konjac root was our best choice. It’s a plant that is native to eastern Asia and has been used in Japanese cuisine for centuries. We think it’s the safest and healthiest way to make a gel.”
Verification for Zellee’s organic fruit gels was granted in March of 2017, and the Zellee pouches will bear the Non-GMO Project verification mark later this year. Zellee is currently available in Hawaii and on the West Coast, as well as online at Amazon and www.zellee.com.
