Encinitas, Calif. (Sept. 06, 2012) – Whole Foods Market Encinitas is partnering with The Whole Journey and Feeding the Soul Foundation for an event to bring together like minded people to dine for a common mission for a cleaner food supply. On Sept. 29, the San Diego foodie and health community are invited to stand up for a good cause while enjoying an evening of farm fresh food, grass-roots live music, and cooking demonstration with celebrity Chef, Brian Malarkey at Stehly Organic Farms from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tickets for Courses for a Cause, can be purchased by visiting: http://coursesforacause.eventbrite.com/ with all event proceeds benefiting the Non-GMO Project.
“It is time for us as a nation to take healthcare into our own hands by going back to the basics of eating real, clean, and local food. By hosting a farm-to-table dinner, we hope to encourage our community to stay connected to each other and to nature,” said Christa Orecchio, founder and owner of The Whole Journey, a clinical and holistic nutrition company. “With this fundraiser for the Non-GMO Project, we hope to spread knowledge of what has happened to our food supply so that consumers can make informed, empowered decisions about what to eat and how it affects their health.
To start off the evening, guests will enjoy appetizers and a hand-crafted cocktail hour featuring Nature’s Agave Mixologists. Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the farm and shop at a pop-up farm stand and enjoy a cooking demo by celebrity chef, Brian Malarkey. The four-course dinner menu, also created by Malarkey, will feature organic foods from local suppliers including Carlsbad Aquafarms, Homegrown Beef, Eben Haezer Eggs, Stehly Organic Farm and more.
Courses for a Cause will also host a silent auction featuring items such as a catered dinner for six from Whole Foods Market, tickets and backstage passes to the next Feeding the Soul Foundation concert, a three-month membership to Frog’s Fitness and more. While enjoying Malarkey’s all-natural, gourmet meal, guests will also be entertained by some of the area’s best musicians such as Kelsea Little and The Make Peace Brothers.
A 2007 Top Chef Miami contestant and award-winning chef, Malarkey is one half of the brain trust, which in less than two years has launched five wildly successful restaurants in San Diego including, Searsucker, Burlap, Gingham, Gabardine and Herringbone.
